The Eye and Man in Ancient Egypt
by
Richey L. Waugh
Published in 1995 , The Eye and Man in Ancient Egypt, was the first volume of a series of supplements to Hirschberg´s History of Ophthalmology.
These supplements (The Monographs) published and edited by Jean-Paul Wayenborgh are particular textes which were, because of the time period of the publishing of Hirschberg´s History (1899-1918), little treated or not at all.
Waugh´s magnificent work concentrates on the relationship of eye diseases, their treatment and religion in Ancient Egypt. It is the first extended textbook on this very special field of egyptology.
